This month committee member Grant Gerrard takes into the story of one of the US Army’s most ignominious defeats, when General Custer’s 7th Cavalry was overwhelmed by a coalition of native American tribes 150 years ago in June 1876.
Amongst those who took part was John Pym, who had emigrated to the states from his Oxfordshire home. Grant will trace his story, the background to what happened and the importance of this last major action of the “Indian Wars”
