29th October talk and AGM

The People of the Peasants Revolt – Matt Lewis

This month see the very welcome return of Matt Lewis, presenter of the “Gone Medieval” podcast, former Chair of the Richard III Society, author and all round good friend of the Society.

His subject for us this year will be the Peasants Revolt of 1381. He will look at the people involved and how close the revolt came to success. This rising against the imposition of an unpopular Poll Tax has direct links with Northampton, as it was there that Parliament met to approve the measure. It was the last time the town would be trusted with holding such an event.

Please note that this meeting includes our Annual General Meeting, and so will start at 7pm, half an hour earlier than usual. Doors will open at 6pm.

Tickets are now available on the Society’s Ticket Source page:  https://www.ticketsource.com/northantsbattles. These are free to Northamptonshire Battlefields Society members, £5 to non-members.

Entry is through the Orangerie Restaurant.

Tea and coffee will be available before hand, provided by the Abbey volunteers. Please make an appropriate donation.

These tickets are for personal attendance at Delapre Abbey ONLY. Members joining in by Zoom do not need to book a ticket.
