The Volunteer Training Corps in Northamptonshire in the Great War by Martin Jones

Local expert Martin Jones rounds off our talks for the year with a look at the original “Dad’s Army”. During The Great War thousands of older men joined the VTC to prepare to defend the country against the imminent invasion threat from the beastly Hun.
25 years before the founding of the similar force in the Second World War those who could not serve in France volunteered in their country’s hour of need. Martin takes us through events that will not be familiar to most of us to tell the story of the Volunteer Training Corps in our county.
